When it comes to designing your outer smile it is important to look at your whole facial structure and not just the teeth themselves.

After assessing the overall facial structure then we must consider the size and shape of the mouth as well. Sometimes orthodontics may be considered before cosmetic work is considered to provide an optimal base for the cosmetic work.

At this point we can now concentrate on the new teeth and start thinking about choosing the correct shade.

To choose the proper shade we use the True shade system which emits light as close to natural daylight as possible. This allows you to have as natural a shade as possible and after we have selected a few options you as the patient will have the final say on the shade of your new smile.

Photos will be taken of your teeth and impressions of how your existing teeth look will be sent to the technician along with impressions of the prepared teeth for the new crowns. (See Dentist/Technician section for further details).

The crowns will be fabricated from Zirconium as the base to avoid a mixture of metals to help protect your inner smile as we work on your outer smile.

For larger work a face bow registration will be recorded in order for the technician to have a three dimensional view of how your teeth occlude.

Replacing missing Teeth

To replace missing teeth the patient has the choice of a bridge or using implants. A bridge is a fixed solution involving the teeth on either side of the gap present in the mouth. This can also be fabricated in Zirconium for optimal health and cosmetics.

An alternative is to place an implant in the gap. This is not always possible depending on the overall quantity and quality of bone present. There are also different meridian issues involved with implants and it is important to ascertain any immunological problems. Before an implant is considered I recommend that my patients have a Melisa test to rule out any adverse effects (see mercury a holistic approach section). It is rare for patients to have an allergy to Titanium. However, there are more and more cases being reported. As an alternative implants are now also being fabricated from Zirconium.
